2019 Week 1 (January 1-6)


It is a gorgeous day today.  Sunday afternoon, relaxing and feeling this nice sea breeze.  

 It was a very nice and busy week with the missionaries leaving:
We will miss these exceptional missionaries and we thank them for their dedication and love of the work.  They served with all their heart.


And the ones arriving:


Eight of them are in New Caledonia now and one sister is in the island of Espiritu Santo  (Vanuatu)
They are full of enthusiasm and it is so exciting to welcome them.  Definitely one of my favorite part of the mission.

Technology is such a blessing.  I was able to visit with my mom and siblings to start the year!  We are spread out: Canada, Utah, Philippines and Vanuatu.  It was such a balm to my heart to see them, talk to them and  laugh altogether.  This is one creation that blesses our lives on our mission.

Our five amazing children who spent the beginning of 2019 together in Gatlinburg, TN with their families.  Cela me fait crémeux en dedans de les regarder.  We were able to join them a little bit through video Messenger.  It brings us so much joy in our hearts to see you loving and helping each other.  Families are forever!  What a blessing!

Unfortunately they did not take any pictures of our five beloved in-laws that also fill our hearts with so much love and appreciation.


I think January will be a little more mellow.  Just a little, since we will not be travelling very much.  Only one trip to the island of Malekula at the end of the month.  I was able to remove all the Christmas decorations ( always a sad time) and we have been working at preparing trainings and talks.

I came across this beautiful quote from Elder Holland this week:

What a sweet blessing repentance is.  

"for a man sometimes, if he is compelled to be humble, seeketh repentance; and now surely, whosoever repenteth shall find mercy;" Alma 32:13

"Therefore, blessed are they who will repent and hearken unto the voice of the Lord their God; for these are they that shall be saved."  Helaman 12:23

I am so grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ and for his gift of repentance that we can be reconciled to our Heavenly father and live with them again.

    I love reading your updates Duquette's! Please know that prayers for you are coming from South Carolina! I love your scriptures on repentance. That same chapter has been on my mind so much lately. I love how Alma later talks about "faith unto repentance". I've asked myself many times over the past few months, what is my "faith unto"? I certainly hope it is "unto repentance", otherwise it may fall short. We love you! Love, Barry and Aimee

  My companion went to the Island of Malekula at the beginning of the week and I stayed in Port Vila.   The mission home is a big house and it was even bigger with grand-papa not here with me.  There were no accommodations in the area of the island that he was because of a Council of Ministers that was taking place from the 11th to 16th of October.  The district president prepared a bed for him in the  building of the district offices.  That in itself was very nice and on top of it, the district president insisted he stayed also with grand-papa after all their meetings.  He himself did not have a bed. 2021 Month 3:4 (22-28 March)

Most important event this week.  Our sweet Audrée's birthday. We ended this week by chatting with her.  We are so proud of all our children and grandchildren.   We love them "gros comme le ciel" and we miss them so much.  I woke up this morning with a message from our Coralie who opened the door to memory lane for me. She sent me this letter I send her at least 10 years ago for a school project about how was school for her grand-maman when I was in second grade. After reading this letter again, I started remembering some stories to help us learn how to read.  I found online the book and some stories back then.  It was so fun to reminisce. Week 16 (15-21 October 2018)

Sitting at the airport now, wondering what happened this past week. The weeks seem to mesh together.  We had 3 missionaries coming in a week after the new missionaries because of visas for two of them and sister Myae stayed extra weeks at the MTC in the Philippines to learn English..  We came back from Tanna Monday and Sister Myae arrived Tuesday.  Benoit was conducting the interviews with the Efate and Tanna zones, so I went to greet her with the assistants and the travel elders.  It was weird to greet her without the mission president but we drove to the mission office and he met with her then.  She is from Myanmar.  I was very impressed with her English.  I enjoyed visiting with her as I drove her back to the mission office.  She is the only member of the Church in her family.  She met the Church as she was attending English class and she said one of the students really stood out.  She was so nice and helpful.  She ask...
