2019 Week 27 (1-7 juillet 2019)


Guess where we were July 2nd at 4:13 am?  Sleeping in a hotel in Luganville, Espiritu Santo.  Our bed was shaking.  It woke all of us up and it lasted maybe 30 to 60 seconds but it felt like it would never stop. Thank you for your prayers, they calm me down when we have these experiences and I know Heavenly father is watching over us. 


We spent Canada Day in Santo and the Fourth of July in New Caledonia for Zone Conferences



The Santo Zone leaders took us to the Million Dollar Point Restaurant for lunch.  We did not get to see the million dollar worth of US Military equipment. That will be for a future trip for grand-papa and grand-maman  to do some snorkeling. 




Above is the only piece of metal we got to see.  It was a nice area to have lunch.





 Sister Gebowa, one of the Sister Training Leaders in Santo, is a good example of what missionaries have to do when they back up their car.  I might use this picture as a reminder for the next zone conferences. 😏


 
 The cookies here are good and should be called rockies 😐 Eat with care.

 While the missionaries wait for their turn for an interview with the mission president in New Caledonia, one elder from New Zealand likes to doodle on the board.

You can see on the top left picture the circular restaurant at the very top of another hotel.  We had dinner there a year ago with the Noumea Stake President, his wife and the area seventy.

Two sister missionaries in New Caledonia made this skirt and this tie for us.


They also made some matching ties for the assistants.  Why stop there...

 They took care of the whole zone.  I think we all look very sunny indeed!

Saturday: p-day.  After doing our shopping, we took a break in the pool.  A little chilly at first.  It felt more like a pool in Quebec instead of one in South Carolina. 😮

 Value pack cereal boxes.  Nutri-Grain 805 gr cost  $17.90.  It says Iron Man food.  He is probably the only one that can afford it.

 Rice Bubbles  (Rice Krispies) 705 gr, cost $ 13.80.  A lot of money for a lot of air.

When I think of this week, it is a mixture of happy and sad moments, of absolute beauty and some foolishness.  And mostly moments of feeling pure love then feeling more love. First let me talk to you about the green oranges of Vanuatu.  I know I spoke about it in a previous blog but there is more... The secret with green oranges is to make sure you ask the mamas before you buy them what they are.  In July and August they were mandarines.  In October they were lemons. 2020 Semaine 21 (18-24 mai)

The new receptionist and...                                           In his free time, the travel coordinator This is what multitasking looks like for a mission President and his companion.   We are blessed to have two wonderful Elders helping out. One of our great accomplishment this week:  Change the hand sanitizer box in the dispenser. We needed the two of us to accomplish this feat!                                           We are growing into two well rounded missionaries with more skills than when we arrived. 😁😁 Mostly this week, we did a lot of praying, pondering, more praying,  to know the will of the Lord for our missionaries. Week 4 Jul. 22-29

One month done, 35more to go but who’s counting, we’ve been too busy.   At the beginning of the week, we welcomed 3 new sisters from the Island of Tanna and one elder from the island of Malekula.  All four have received their call to serve a mission.  The 3 sisters in Guam and the elder in Papua New Guinea.  So they come over to Port Vila for immunizations, shopping for clothes and receive their patriarcal blessing.  They will all leave on Aug. 1st for Fiji to go to the temple and the sisters also have an interview for their visa for Guam.  Then they will leave Fiji on August 8th to enter the MTC in New Zealand.   Sister Tucker, Sister Fau'onuku, Sister Duquette, Sister Andon at the  Black Sand Chapel So our nurse, sister Tucker was very busy this week.  She is the one that makes sure the ni-van missionaries  newly called missionaries from Vanuatu) have all they need to go serve on their mission.  She is the best and w...
