2019 Week 37 (9-15 sep)

Another exciting transfer week has gone by.  Thirteen missionaries went back home and fourteen came to join the ranks.  The process of these weeks is an adventure in itself.  We are so thankful for our wonderful senior missionaries and office elders to help out.  It is a smooth transition because of it.

Relaxing during lunch on Sunday.

Friday we were on our way to another adventure, this time in Fiji.  We took a flight Port Vila- Nadi Fiji, then a short flight Nadi-Suva Fiji.  We spend a great day Saturday with Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife,  Elder Carl B. Cook, of the Presidency of the Seventy and his wife,  Bishop W. Christopher Waddell, of the Presiding Bishopric of the Church and his wife, and Elder Kazuhiro Yamashita of the Pacific Area Presidency and his wife. Attending the meeting were the ward and Stake councils of Fiji (4 stakes and 3 districts), President Guidi of the Nouméa Stake in New Caledonia, President Basil of the Port Vila Stake in Vanuatu, President and Sister Higgins of the Suva, Fiji Mission and us.  The districts in our mission were able to watch the proceeding of this meeting live by internet.  It was great to see the leaders of each stake standing up following the invitation of Elder Adolf Johansson, Area Seventy.  I thought how wonderful it will be one day when in Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Solomon Islands we will see that many Stakes and leaders.  There is still a lot of work to be done.

I want to share one scripture that was mentioned during this meeting.  Alma 33:16
"For behold, he said:  Thou art angry, O Lord, with this people, because they will not understand thy mercies which thou hast bestowed upon them because of thy Son."

Are we taking advantage of the Lord's mercies?  Do we believe that He has all power to heal?

Bishop Waddell also said: " The Lord does not ask us to repent to punish us but to bless us."  I know that it is true.  It is a tender mercy of the Lord and the power of His atonement in our life,  because He loves us.

Today, Sunday, we attended the Suva Stake Conference, presided by Elder Carl B. Cook.  He assisted Elder Neil A. Andersen when we were set apart a little over a year ago.
Tonight we will be attending a fireside for returned missionaries and their wives in which Elder Cook and Elder Yamashita and their wives will be present.

Tomorrow, we will be leaving for Nadi, Fiji, to attend the Mission Leadership Seminar with the other Mission Presidents and wives of the Pacific Area.  We are looking forward to be instructed and edified by the same brethren and their wives.  It is good to feel the Spirit and love of the Lord and of each other.  We will tell you all about that next week.

On another note:

These cucumbers were chubby. 😀
