2019 Week 44 (28 Oct.-3 Nov.)

 It was a zone conference week with the Santo zone



We shared what we learned during General Conference October 2019


Sister Allen teaches English class and a sister comes to class with her cute 2 year old daughter.  She is very quiet, keeping herself busy, while her mommy is learning English.  She was so adorable I had to take a few pictures.  She realized I was taking her picture the first time.




I asked her to wear her glasses for the second picture and she did.  I love it that they are upside down.



We enjoyed also being with the New Caledonia zone.  We arrived on Halloween, a little later than usually so grand-papa finished the interviews at 8:00 pm. (started around noon)
The STL's and one of the zone leaders decided to wear a costume for their interviews.


Sister LaMunyon and Sister Woods are anxious for Christmas. Elder Kimball used a tie and a pair of sweat pants to become an elephant.
Last time Sister Maifano did not have time to make all the skirts and ties so she completed them for this conference.  They sure like doing that.  

The discussion about General Conference was great.  So many insights and we just feel the Spirit of these wonderful teachings every time.  We love it.

We asked the missionaries to write one thought or a feeling they had during zone conference.







Coming back to our hotel room that evening , we saw this show from our room.

Saturday, before attending the Saturday session of Stake Conference, we went for a walk.  It was so windy to the delight of many doing windsurfing.  They were going real fast. 



 After the Saturday session, we were invited to dinner with the Gurrera family.  There oldest daughter is serving a mission.  She is visa waiting in French Polynesia, her call is to serve in Arizona.  What a delightful family.  They also have two boys one will turn 12 in January.  His name is Valentin and their son Enzio is 14 years old.  Both brother and sister Gurrera  serve with the youth of the stake.  They were telling us about a Youth Conference they had.  Brother Gurrera made this trophy that the youth could earn during the activities.


They gave us these bracelet that were made for the youth with this year's theme of John 14:15




It was a spiritual feast this week.  One of the very best part of this experience.  It outweighed the challenges we still have to face.  Reminding us we are not alone.  We received answers on how to overcome them.  It feels like the refiner's fire sometimes.  And I find solace and comfort in this scripture:
"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen." Moroni 7:48

After today's session of Stake Conference we were invited to eat with President Gorodey , his wife and mother-in-law.  He is the first counselor in the stake presidency.  They live in a sweet home surrounded by a very nice garden.
We just love spending this time with the members in New Caledonia.  Great company and  great food.

  We are surrounded by such beautiful flowers. Two flowers from our mission garden left this week.  Elder Teriitaohia will be circling the globe before he can finally arrive in Tahiti in 11 days.  😲 Sister Nalau returned home to the island of Tanna because of health concerns.  We are so grateful for their diligent work in the mission. The Lord is watching over his missionaries.  We had a lot of paperwork to prepare before Elder Territaohia was ready to leave.  Since it is a little complicated, we made sure he had a sim card in a phone so he could contact us. The best way to communicate is by Messenger.  We took care of that before he left.  When he arrived in Australia, he realized the sim card was not working.  He tried to find where he could purchase one but could not.  We really need for him to contact us every step of the way to make sure all is well.  As he was looking to find where to get another sim card, a member from Vanua...

2019 Week 3 ( 14-20 January)

When I think of this week, it is a mixture of happy and sad moments, of absolute beauty and some foolishness.  And mostly moments of feeling pure love then feeling more love. First let me talk to you about the green oranges of Vanuatu.  I know I spoke about it in a previous blog but there is more... The secret with green oranges is to make sure you ask the mamas before you buy them what they are.  In July and August they were mandarines.  In October they were lemons. And in January they are oranges but they taste like sweet grapefruits.  They all look alike, but the inside is very different depending on the season.  There is an object lesson in this.  I am sure papa/grand-papa will be able to use that someday. 2021 Month 4:3 (19-25 April)

Bella and her mom made this doll out of a clothespin and a glove.  The project was the story of an immigrant, Bella's mom.  Doesn't the doll just look like her?  I think it looks absolutely great! I miss being a part of these projects but I am so thrilled they did it together and it turned out so well.  Yes girls, you do have the creative gene!
