2019 Week 50 (9-15 December)


December Zone Conferences have started this week!


Santo Zone



 We first watched some missionaries in the mission sharing their experiences about Contacting.  We had several missionaries sharing and we had a 30 minute video to listen to.

We assembled hygiene kits to share with friends with a pamphlet of the restoration and some goodies.


We shared some scriptures about the Savior that we like and why.  We also wrote down on a star what we will give the Savior in 2020
Elder Tree, who just came in at the beginning of December, disguised himself as a Christmas tree. 😃 



We shared a nice Christmas meal with Honey Ham, Chicken, Beef, Yams, Ribs, Salads. For dessert a fruit cake.

  It was really good.

                                          We also sang two Christmas Songs in Bislama.

New Caledonia Zone


Wes shared scriptures of the Savior, talents a good meal.  They also wrote their goal of what they will give the Savior in 2020 and their testimony in a book of Mormon.  They made an ornament with the picture of the Savior on a snowflake that they made.  They wrapped it nicely to give to a friend befor Christmas 








New Caledonia by day

We always eat so well in New Caledonia...maybe a little to well.😏
This cute little girl was playing with pine cones in the Church parking lot.  






We went in the north of New Caledonia to visit members in La Foa  on Saturday and Bourail on Sunday.








 Elder Hunter is picking some mangoes. They are soooooooo good!


 

One sister had this beautiful garden with gnomes hiding everywhere.






 Sunday reminded us when we were missionaries in France.  Very small branches where the missionaries help with teaching, blessing and passing Sacrament.  Elder and sister Hunter also serve as counselor in the branch presidency and relief society president while also managing the mission office and taking care of the missionaries.

Grand-papa and I gave the talks on Sunday.  We both felt impressed without consulting each other to talk about the blessings of the Book of Mormon. I wished I could have recorded grand-papa's talk.  It was filled with the Holy Ghost testifying of his words, using experiences in the Book of Mormon to apply in our lives.

I shared what President Nelson said about the Book of Mormon:  "When I think of the Book of Mormon, I think of the word power.  The truths of the Book of Mormon have the power to heal, comfort, restore, succor, strengthen, console, and cheer our souls."  I have experienced and still do the power of the Book of Mormon.  Please read it a little bit every day.  Then share with me what difference it makes in your life.  You will know like I do how wonderful the teachings of this book are.  As I read it now on my phone, it often feels like I am getting a text from Heavenly Father.  Just for me.  I really do want the same blessings for each one of you.

The highlight of our week was talking with Wesley for his birthday with a bonus hello from Jacob, Mason, Calvin and Arianne.  He is now 6 years old.  He is such a sweet boy and we were very happy he talked to us for almost 30 minutes!!!  We were thrilled.  We usually get a quick hello then a quick goodbye followed by a  I love you because he is busy playing . We could have talked a lot longer but we had to leave for a meeting.  A very close second was a chat with Halle, Bella, Jaden, Audrée and Jason.  Short but very sweet.  These conversations, Messenger, Facebook and pictures are such a support in these crazy times.   Like these sweet faces to look at every time we feel like screaming, gets us back in our zen zone and making us smile.                                         ...

2020 Semaine 42 (12-18 octobre)

  My companion went to the Island of Malekula at the beginning of the week and I stayed in Port Vila.   The mission home is a big house and it was even bigger with grand-papa not here with me.  There were no accommodations in the area of the island that he was because of a Council of Ministers that was taking place from the 11th to 16th of October.  The district president prepared a bed for him in the  building of the district offices.  That in itself was very nice and on top of it, the district president insisted he stayed also with grand-papa after all their meetings.  He himself did not have a bed. It was a great week of teaching with the missionaries and ...  also signing the lease for  a new home for our missionaries in Pango.  The landlord is a gem.  He put a brand new refrigerator and replaced the water heater. 2020 Semaine 25 (15-21 juin)

It was a zone conference week!   We always pray the missionaries will feel the Spirit in their heart and will find the courage, especially in these difficult times, to experience for themselves the great joy of trusting the Lord and putting Him first. We met at the mission home.  We met with the Efate zone in two separate days.  Elder Yamashita of the Area Presidency and his wife joined us through technology both days. The third day we met with the Solomon zone.  A week earlier, they had a special meeting with Elder Kupu an Area Seventy in Tonga and his wife through Messenger.  This pandemic is not only creating difficulties.  We have been enjoying some perks also. We did feel the Spirit as we shared and instructed one another. I wonder if it is not like what happened to our pool this week and in  this time of year.  Too much water was put in it and it overflowed.  It is too cold to be used right now and the water just stays there unused...
