2020 Semaine 6 (3-9 février)

Never a dull moment in the Vanuatu Port Vila Mission.  It is sometimes hard to know what day it is.  During the night, if I wake up to go to the bathroom, I have to think for a few seconds to remember where we are so I know where the bathroom is.

Mondays and Tuesdays are days for grand-papa to read missionary letters.  On Tuesday he came across some notes from a Stake Conference in 2017.  Elder Keech was speaking on How to help the youth (we think missionaries) avoid distractions?
1- Teach the doctrine
2- Trust them
3- Accept that they will make mistakes

I like to add
4- Pray for them
5- Pray for the Spirit to guide us and fill us with Christlike love

There are no coincidences we have found out.  It was a good reminder.

Wednesday, we left for New Caledonia.  We always enjoy going to this part of our mission and we have the special bonus now of seeing our friends the Coalliers. These series of zone conference brought such a  wonderful Spirit as we were remembering the First Vision

The zone leaders in New Caledonia write on the whiteboard a list of the interviews by area.
One of the zone leaders, Elder Temaiana, kept adding to his drawing on the board.  It turned out really good.

Today Sunday, we went to the very new building where two wards will now meet.  I just took a few pictures.  What a blessing for the saints here.  Yesterday was the coordinating council for the two stake presidents, the mission president and the Area Seventy.  We were all present for this first Sunday.  During the meeting, a thought came to my mind that I would be sharing my testimony and what I wanted to say came to me very easily in Bislama.  As the meeting was progressing, I thought  I must have made a mistake because there was about 15 minutes left for the Area Seventy to conclude the meeting.  I was surprise to hear him say that before he addresses us that Sister Duquette will bear her testimony.  I was calm, my tongue was loosed and I bore my testimony in Bislama with such great ease.  I am so thankful for these wonderful experiences with the Holy Ghost.  It is a great motivation to always live in a way that the Holy Ghost is with me.  I do not want to think about living this life without Him.

During the second meeting, Relief Society, some young women were introduced as they will now be part of the Relief Society sisters.  The Young Women's president said a few words and was very moved then the Relief Society President welcomed them.  I was watching a baby girl who was sitting in front of me and the thought came to my mind that Heavenly Father loves His daughters and is mindful of them no matter their age.  He has a plan of happiness for us all.  Looking at all the sisters around me, I felt His love for us all.

I am also so very thankful for Heavenly Father watching over us and our loved ones.  We have had rough weather these past few days.
Tornado, heavy rain and some snow in South Carolina,

a LOT of snow in Quebec, a tropical low bringing heavy rain falls, rough sea and gusts of wind in Vanuatu and heading to the northern part of New Caledonia.

Remember to:
Feast upon that which perisheth not (2 Nephi 9:51)
Feast upon the words of Christ (2 Nephi 32:3)
Feast upon the love of God (Jacob 3:2)
