2020 Semaine 31 (27 juillet- 3 août)


The celebration was going strong this week and the weather was perfect.  Joy was felt in the air and it was contagious!





On my way back to the mission home, after shopping for lunch for zone conference, I came across a parade.  The people at the store on the left of the picture were dancing to the music.  😀 



Turn right after that grey wall and that is the street, up the hill,  leading to what we have been calling home the last two years.




I don't think it will be a problem to pay for the bread before we eat it.


We emptied the shelves to feed 47 missionaries Taco Joes.  They really liked it. 😋 We also cooked 7kg of ground beef. My assistant cook was a lifesaver.  I really miss our wonderful senior missionaries who spoiled us with their wonderful help with meals and so many other responsibilities.


The size of these cheese bags may seem normal to all Costco buyers.  For Vanuatu, it is a rare sight.  
I am so glad we can freeze cheese.  The pizza blend is for our Pizza Friday night meal.  I think we will have enough until the end of our mission. 😉 The blue bag was for the Taco Joes.  The left over went to the freezer too.

Zone Conference this week was about




This district arrived too early at the mission home and decided to study together the Missionary Standards in preparation for zone conference.👍








The Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ 
are not just for missionaries because they are standards for disciples of Jesus Christ.  

This is what the Lord says about them:
"And again I say unto you, I give unto you a new commandment, that you may understand my will concerning you;
Or, in other words, I give unto you directions how you may act before me, that it may turn to you for your salvation." 
 D&C 82: 8-9 


What used to take about 5 weeks to hold zone conferences across the mission, now takes 3 days.
We are also able to stay at the mission home which I enjoy.(air conditioning 😊)




Today at church, during Sunday School, we were sitting behind this family who were wearing home made clothes especially made for the 40th celebration.  They looked so beautiful.

  My companion went to the Island of Malekula at the beginning of the week and I stayed in Port Vila.   The mission home is a big house and it was even bigger with grand-papa not here with me.  There were no accommodations in the area of the island that he was because of a Council of Ministers that was taking place from the 11th to 16th of October.  The district president prepared a bed for him in the  building of the district offices.  That in itself was very nice and on top of it, the district president insisted he stayed also with grand-papa after all their meetings.  He himself did not have a bed. 2021 Month 3:4 (22-28 March)

Most important event this week.  Our sweet Audrée's birthday. We ended this week by chatting with her.  We are so proud of all our children and grandchildren.   We love them "gros comme le ciel" and we miss them so much.  I woke up this morning with a message from our Coralie who opened the door to memory lane for me. She sent me this letter I send her at least 10 years ago for a school project about how was school for her grand-maman when I was in second grade. After reading this letter again, I started remembering some stories to help us learn how to read.  I found online the book and some stories back then.  It was so fun to reminisce. Week 16 (15-21 October 2018)

Sitting at the airport now, wondering what happened this past week. The weeks seem to mesh together.  We had 3 missionaries coming in a week after the new missionaries because of visas for two of them and sister Myae stayed extra weeks at the MTC in the Philippines to learn English..  We came back from Tanna Monday and Sister Myae arrived Tuesday.  Benoit was conducting the interviews with the Efate and Tanna zones, so I went to greet her with the assistants and the travel elders.  It was weird to greet her without the mission president but we drove to the mission office and he met with her then.  She is from Myanmar.  I was very impressed with her English.  I enjoyed visiting with her as I drove her back to the mission office.  She is the only member of the Church in her family.  She met the Church as she was attending English class and she said one of the students really stood out.  She was so nice and helpful.  She ask...
