2020 Semaine 52 (21-27 décembre)

 What a wonderful week!

We did not see it ourselves but saw a great picture of the "Christmas Star" (Jupiter and Saturn)

It was a rough beginning of the week.  One sister missionary got dehydrated and lost a lot of sodium.  She was convulsing but they were not seizures.  It was more like restlessness, spasms and cramps in her legs and arms.  That happened Sunday late afternoon and we went to their house.  The doctor and the ambulance had to be called, and came. No amount of medicine could calm her down.  She received one IV at the house then two more at the hospital.  Her cousin is also serving in our mission and she came to the hospital to try to calm her down.  The missionary told her that she could not control the spasms. Grand-papa spent the night with them at the hospital.  She received a very low dose of medication around 2:00 in the morning and she finally relaxed.  She had received a total of about 30 mg at different times since about 7:00 pm.  When she woke up early in the morning she was fine but tired and could not remember what happened.  She was very achy from all the ordeal.  She felt a lot better by Wednesday and was able to join us for our Christmas activities.  She stayed watching during the games and we were happy she was with us and all better.
Following are some pictures of our December 23rd Christmas Celebration.  We had activities, light lunch, potluck for dinner, a Christmas devotional and gift exchange.

Good food from Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Québec, Kiribati, Guatemala, French Polynesia, Benin Africa, reminding us of Christmas at home!
It was a treat!

What will I give to be closer to the Lord in 2021?

On Monday, at the mission office, two sisters received cakes for their birthday.

"The weather outside was frightful" at times with pouring, very heavy rain. (But not on Wednesday 😁)
"From Atlantic to Pacific gee, the traffic is terrific"
A few pictures of the traffic this week...

... and the rain

A little rain does not stop anyone here.

It is actually raining very hard even if the sky is blue.  See the other pictures from the same moment.

The vegetation is so pretty here.

Une variation de la tourtière (avec des morceaux de croissants), des truffles et carrés aux fruits nous ont fait penser à Noël chez nous.

A little bit of Christmas food that we usually eat helped us remember Christmas at home.  But the most important thing is remembering the reason for the season.  It is wonderful wherever we are.

"Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God; And he manifesteth himself unto all those who believe in him, by the power of the Holy Ghost; yea, unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, working mighty miracles, signs, and wonders, among the children of men according to their faith." 2 Nephi 26:12-13

I know it is true.
