2021 Month 6:4 (21-27 June)

Monday here and Tuesday (because it is Monday on the other side of the world) was my birthday.  Last time to enjoy two days of birthday.  I am thankful for all the love I received these two days.

The week started with the miracle of returning our seven Tongan missionaries to Tonga.

The fact that there was a repatriation  flight from Port Vila to Tonga was the first miracle.  Then an angel, Lucy, who is a pilot who is originally from Tonga and lives here in Vanuatu was asked to be in charge to organize that repatriation flight.

She took care of all the details of getting approvals from the Tongan government and the Foreign Affairs here plus arranging the testing of COVID to be done within a day.  Permissions were granted, tests were done Monday morning and received at 1:30 as promised.  We were at the airport at 1:00 am Tuesday as required by Air Vanuatu and the check-in finally opened at 3:00 am. They went through customs and we were back home at 4:00 am to have a quick nap.  I had recuperated  some mission phones, house keys and keys for two trucks.  At 6:00 am, the alarm on one of the phones started ringing and I could not stop it.  I put it as far as I could from our bedroom but by now the birds had started singing, one even sounded like the alarm...  I was in bed by 8:00 pm that day and by 8:01 pm I was fast asleep. 😄

Wednesday we had orientation with a new missionary.  His bishop with his wife, the missionary and his mother arrived at the mission office.  We took some pictures, the missionary said goodbye and he stepped in the Mission President's office for the welcome interview.  His two companions joined in the orientation which is a good overview for them.  We are excited for Elder Gatteville and so grateful for his desire to serve the Lord.

Thursday we held a Young Missionary Leaders Training because most of our leaders have just recently started their mission.  It was a good session of training and we are so thankful for their willingness to serve with all their heart, might and mind.

The Worldwide Mission Leader Seminar started on 24 June in Utah and we started watching it on Friday.  Even though we are at the eve of our departure it was encouraging to see we had followed the inspiration of the Lord during our time here and many topics that were taught at the seminar we had applied at one time or the other.  There are also other teachings we can still apply until we leave.

Talking about leaving, nothing is simple and we are hoping a door will open that we can leave next week and the new Mission President and his wife arrive.  We found out this week that their will be no inbound flights (repatriation or cargo) from 9-31 July.  If we cannot leave before the 9th we will have to wait until August.  But in August, the problem we are facing now will be the same.  We need an angel and a miracle too.  I will let you know next blog what is happening.

The teachings received from the Seminar were uplifting and I particularly enjoyed the words of President Nelson and Elder Bednar.  Elder David A. Bednar spoke of Spiritual Gifts and Christlike Attributes.

He also said:"Spiritual gifts are prerequisites for and essential to our coming unto the Savior, being blessed with His attributes,  and becoming like Him."

MIFALA LAVEM YUFALA TUMAS!
