2019 Week 36 (1-8 Sep.)

Monday morning, my plan was to exercise in the pool.  Then I heard the rain pouring down.  I took the picture on the left thinking it was going to be a very wet, humid, gray day.

An hour later, this picture was taken.  It turned out to be a very nice day.  A good lesson learned.  Never assume the worse and always have hope.

I mentioned before how I came here with three watches.  Two have dead batteries and this one, the wrist band was no good anymore.  When I took off the wrist band of the watch, one of the pins disappeared in midair.  This week grand-papa found it on the dining room floor.  I could not believe it.  So I put it back on and made myself a wrist band with 3 elastics. C'est ingénieux n'est-ce pas?
It will do until the batterie on this one dies also.

We were following this car this week and grand-papa noticed something wrong with it.  Can you see what is wrong?

We thought Thursday was going to be an easy day.  The day was pretty open.  Grand-papa even thought he could go and work with the missionaries.  Then first thing in the morning, he checks his e-mails.  We received some heartbreaking news concerning one of our returned missionary struggling big time.

We were floored to say the least, shaken and sad.  It occupied our mind and time completely on Thursday and our prayers are with him and his family since then.

We saw the Lord's hand again on Saturday as we were going to the airport to pick up a sister missionary who has been visa waiting in our mission.  Grand-papa got a phone call from the Pacific Area President offering some words of comfort that were needed.  It felt like a hug and a kiss on the forehead offered by a parent after a child just felt down and receives that tender comfort.  The words came from the servant but I felt the comfort from the Lord.

Of course the perfect ending for that day, as we were settling down on the comfy recliner chairs after dinner, was a brief but very noticeable shake.
No harm done.

It was however a reminder that Heavenly father is watching over us.

This is the side of  the airport for domestic flights.  We waited there for a short time before realizing our sister missionary was not on the flight.

Some phone calls later, with the help of our amazing travel elders, we had a plan B to get that sister to Fiji this week to receive her temple endowment and enter the New Zealand MTC.

Elders Redford and Boylan, the travel elders.  They were showing me that they both have one arm more tanned than the other.  You can't see it well on this picture.  This coming week is transfer week.  Elder Redford will be serving as a zone leader in the Efate zone and Elder Boylan will be training his new companion for travel duties.

Saturday, grand-papa went for another walk around the pool a few times and could not resist taking this picture of the lovely flowers next to the pool.

For the birthdays this week.  I had fun making these coloring pages for Calvin who turned three last Wednesday and Leah turning four today.  I hope they will  enjoy them.

Did you guess what the problem is?  Need an alignment fellow?

I have been working on a talk I will be giving in Bislama at the LuganvilleDistrict Conference, the last Saturday of September.  I was reminded that we are all part of the body of Christ like Paul said and every member is needed.  In preparation for the Mission Leadership Seminar in two weeks, Elder Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has asked that we study Jacob Chapter 5.  In my study I was reminded that the Lord of the vineyard works with his servant.
"And it came to pass that the Lord of the vineyard and the servant of the Lord of the vineyard did nourish all the fruit of the vineyard." Jacob 5:28  It is very comforting and I know He works with his servants.

Ale Tata!  Mifala lavem yufala tumas.

P.S.  I was getting ready to press publish when I saw a floating house on the lagoon.  We usually see sail boats.I had to add this here.
Of course, it looks like a house but it is not a house. 😉😊
