2019 Week 30 (21-28 juillet)

It was a week of celebration for many.   The oldest of our grandchildren turned 16 last Sunday.  The cute girl next to her that looks like her sister is actually her mom, our daughter Melanie.   It was our wedding anniversary on July 24th.  40 wonderful years.   We celebrated our 20th in South Carolina where we had just moved. We celebrated our 40th in the South Pacific.  If we are around for #60, I just want to be with the family and that will be the most wonderful place to be. It was a celebration for Elder Vaekau who has been reunited with his family now that he has finished his mission.  We are thankful for his service. Today we were celebrating with the members of the Erakor branch.  They were having their branch conference in their new chapel. 2019 Week 29 (15-21 juillet)

Dusk, a favorite time of day and it looked so peaceful and beautiful. I like to listen to Radio Vanuatu to learn Bislama.  It was my first time seeing the Radio Vanuatu truck.  Voes blong yumi: Our voice.  I had to take a picture 😀 We are so grateful for the senior couples who come to serve in the Vanuatu Port Vila Mission.  This week Sister Carlson and Elder and Sister Ormsby arrived.  Sister Carlson  is working in the Mission Office.  Elder and Sister Ormsby are assigned to Self-Reliance/Humanitarian. Elder and Sister Sitake serve  in Solomon Islands.  Sister Sitake worked really hard to organize the first Youth Conference in Honiara, Solomon Islands There was an article in www.mormonnewsroom.org.nz Here are a few comments in that article. 2019 Week 28 (8-15 juillet)

Monday 15 July 2019 We just came back from Malekula to attend a district conference.  I was happy to see the soothing and familiar view from the mission home tonight. It is nice to come back to our home away from home.  It is dinner time on the island of Efate as we can see from the columns of smoke from various outside kitchen around the island. It was a busy week of office work. Friday we took a bit of time to go to the little mall in Port Vila.  The escalators are a little scary because they are flat and have an important incline.  The one going up were not working, so we got a good thigh work out.  Which is a good thing since we went to the pastry shop to get some croissants and pain aux raisins.    We walked around for a little bit, because it is a real small mall.  But it was still relaxing.                                               We saw good and sweet quotes and funky sunglasses Saturday we woke up at 4:30 to catch th
